NIN Application Guide for 2024 JAMB Candidates: Steps to Secure Your National Identification Number

In preparation for the 2024 JAMB UTME registration, candidates must obtain their National Identification Number (NIN). This comprehensive guide outlines the simple steps and requirements for acquiring your NIN and emphasizes its critical role in ensuring a seamless registration process.

As the 2024 UTME registration approaches, prospective candidates must prioritize obtaining their NINs. Failure to do so may hinder crucial tasks in the educational journey, making it essential to act now and avoid potential obstacles in the future.

To facilitate a smooth registration process, follow these steps:

  1. Check if You Already Have a NIN:
Before proceeding with the NIN registration, dial *346# on your phone with the SIM card used for NIN registration to retrieve your NIN. Ensure to keep this information secure and refrain from sharing it on social media. Dialing *346# is free on all Nigerian mobile networks.
  2. NIN Registration Process (For Those Without a NIN):
If you don’t have a NIN, follow these steps:
  • Gather supporting documents such as your old National ID card, driver’s license, voter’s card, Nigerian international passport, or other valid documents listed.
  • Visit the nearest NIMC Enrolment Centre with your BVN (if available) and required documents.
  • Download and complete the enrolment form from NIMC’s official website.
  • Walk into the enrolment centre with the completed form for further processing. Enrolment Steps:
  • Verification of previous enrolment using the NIN verification portal.
  • Filling of the enrolment form or collection of the printed barcode slip for pre-enrolled applicants.
  • Crosschecking and vetting of the applicant’s information against supporting documents.
  • Inputting of pre-filled information into the NIMC software.
  • Biometric data capture (ten fingerprints and facial image).
  • Issuance of a Transaction ID Slip as evidence of the transaction.
  • Return within 1-5 working days for NIN collection. Note:
  • Enrolment is free of charge.
  • Service available Monday to Friday (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.).
  1. For Minor Applicants:
  • Minors (0-15 years) should be accompanied by parents or guardians.
  • Bring an original and valid birth certificate and NIN slip from one of the Nigerian parents/guardians.
  • The National e-ID Card is issued to minors when they turn 16.

2.Generating JAMB Registration Profile Code:
Once you have your NIN, proceed to generate your JAMB registration profile code once the process begins for 2024 UTME candidates.

Conclusion:
Secure your NIN now to ensure a hassle-free 2024 UTME registration process. Follow the outlined steps, and remember that early preparation is key to a successful academic journey. Stay tuned for updates and timely actions to stay ahead in your educational pursuits.
